A Trip to the Idaho Falls Zoo [Photo Album]

September 28th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in My Life, My Photography

Hello Family and Friends!

It has been a fairly boring past few weeks, so in order to treat the boredom, we decided to head to the Idaho Falls, ID Zoo.  When we got there, there was traffic galore and we had to fight for a parking spot.  We didn’t expect it to be busy at all when we left, but there was actually a fair or something going on that day as well as free admissions to the zoo.  So, we were thankful for that opportunity to check it out.  Needless to say, it was completely packed and we didn’t get to enjoy a lot of the exhibits because we felt as if we were being rushed.  Oh well.  Qeirstyn still really enjoyed it as she got to pet a goat, a donkey, and some boars.  She really enjoyed seeing the monkeys jump around as well while she made her monkey sound.  Anyways, I hope you enjoy the pictures! You may notice that the focus was a little off for some of the pictures, but that’s okay because you still get the idea!

Love,
Derek, Heather, and Qeirstyn Hildreth

Granite Peak Hike 2008 [Photo Album]

August 25th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in My Life, My Photography

Hello Family and Friends!

This is possibly the most exciting post this year. If you only read one, let this be it. Along with my Dad, two cousins (Aaron and Todd), and my uncle (Blaine), I climbed Granite Peak, the highest point in Montana at 12,799ft. It was spectacular. The photos below will never do it justice, but it’s the only way to share the experience with you unless you’ve been there yourself. Please, enjoy the photos below. But first, check out this description from Wikipedia.org:

Granite Peak is the highest point in the state of Montana, USA. It lies within the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, in Park County very near the borders of Stillwater County and Carbon County. Granite Peak is 10 miles (16 km) north of the Wyoming border, 45 miles (72 km) southwest of Columbus, Montana.

Granite Peak is one of the most difficult U.S. state highpoint ascents, due to technical climbing, poor weather, and route finding[1][2]. Granite Peak’s first ascent was made by Elers Koch on August 29, 1923 after several failed attempts by others. It was the last of the state highpoints to be climbed[2] Today, climbers typically spend two or three days ascending the peak, stopping over on the Froze-to-Death Plateau. However, other climbers choose to ascend the peak in a single day. Be cautious at the snow bridge as a few unroped climbers have perished here. If the snow is not soft or you feel you do not have the ability to safely walk across then you must rope up. The route before you reach the snow bridge is mostly a scramble. After it, it immediately becomes technical rock climbing that requires extremely good route finding skills.

August 25th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in My Life, My Photography

Hello Family and Friends!

This is a small photo album of Cody and Sara’s wedding. I published a HD video of the occasion earlier, but I never included any photos. The reason that there is not very many photos is because I used my video camera more than my still camera. Anyways, enjoy the photos!

Hello Family and Friends!

This year, May hasn’t been very considerate of our busy schedule.  We’ve been working hard and trying to keep up with the school work that starting to pour out as well as making trips to Montana to visit family.  So, between all of this, we haven’t had much time to keep you up-to-date on all of the pictures and events happening.  Well, things have finally started to settle down just enough for me to work on the blog again.  Let me get you up to speed on what’s happening.  First, there will be an important announcement, and then the fun, picture stuff!

Important Announcement:

First things first.  I have made some important changes to the way I present the pictures to you on the blog, so you may want to pay attention.  All of the changes are for the better and will both of our lives more enjoyable.  From now on, I am going to be using another photo website to host my pictures called 23hqMy new photo page is located here:http://www.23hq.com/SendDerek. I will no longer be using PicasaWeb, so don’t go there anymore (except for old, archived pictures)!

I have taken the time to outline why this is a good change and why I decided to give PicasaWeb the boot in the following link.  Please take two minutes and check out the new features and benefits of this new service so you can take full advantage of it. You’ll be glad you did.

May 9th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in My Life, My Photography

Hello Family and Friends!

It has been a little over two weeks since I sent out the last "journal entry", and I’m sure you’re patiently awaiting the next one.  Well, wait no more because you’re here now!  These pictures were taken mostly in and around our apartments since it has been starting to warm up outside.  We’ve been taking full advantage of it too.  We were couped up in a nine month winter and we’re ready to defrost.  Let’s get onto the pictures!
